We had our annual “Yard Clean-Up Day” at GCC this Saturday. I was a little concerned when I woke up early and heard rain pelting down on the roof, but the rain stopped at about sunrise and the day cleared up beautifully.
This has turned into one of my favorite events we do besides our outreach events because it’s a great way to meet new people (and I’m not a ‘yard-work person’; you can ask my wife!). There were about 50 people there for most of the day and we got through my ‘to do’ list pretty quickly. It’s amazing how quickly the work goes when we all work together.

There were some folks who had been in the church for many years and there were some who are brand new. I met one lady who had only been going to the church for 3 weeks but she wanted to pitch in and help us out. Plus, it’s a great way for new folks like her to meet people and get plugged into the church.
We worked hard, had a lot of fun, and got a lot done. But, on days like this I always remember that it’s not so much about us getting the job done; it’s more about God getting us done as we work together in relationship with Him and with each other.
So, thanks to all who came to work. It was a pleasure working with you and more of a pleasure getting to know you better.
