So many times, Christians and churches are more noted for the things they are against instead of the things they ware for. We are recognized as being the institution that is against so many things. We get involved in politics, especially in election years, for the things we are against and many predominant Christian leaders speak harshly against these things.
Well, it’s election time and here are some of the things I’m for. I’m for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The Bible says, “against such things there is no law”. This fruit of the spirit can transcend any political stance and won’t cause much buzz in the media, but I think it’s just the thing that God wants me to be for. I think He would rather have me tell folks about these things I’m for than to tell of all the things I’m against.
You see, it’s important for us to stand our ground and hold fast to the truths of God’s Word but its also important for us to be a sweet aroma that draws others to Him. I have to believe that I’m a sweeter aroma when I tell of the things I’m for than when I tell of the things I’m against.
